Welcome!

My name is Raina. I have over 10 years of experience in the entertainment industry. I multi-hyphenate as a writer-director and hope to make room for more queer, non-binary and underrepresented writers, directors, creatives and crew if the opportunity arises.

 

Recently, I got to lead part of Super Bowl Sunday 2024 for the Paramount+ streaming operations team, and otherwise supported the day, along with a variety of other live sports and awards shows, such as March Madness 2023 and the Grammys 2023 & 2024. Previously, I helped launch and directed 261 of the comedy news talk show OFF THE CLOCK at KTLA. I also helped launch and manage the KTLA+ app. For OFF THE CLOCK, I also got to write a joke a day, but it was often about food, leaving me hungry for more. I’ve trained in comedy writing at Upright Citizen’s Brigade and UCLA Extension, among others. In the course of my career I’ve worked in sports, national talk shows, re-enactment shows, magazine shows, sporting events and beyond. I also do digital marketing for freelance clients, anything from editing sizzle reels to podcast sponsorship.

Growing up in North Carolina, I now live in Los Angeles, where I seek to listen to and uplift historically underrepresented folks whether in my career work, art, or social justice work. I am always happy to share anything I’ve learned so far in my journey, with full acknowledgement that we all have so much more to learn.

As a queer, non-binary, polyamorous bad-ass who often feels boxed in by all those labels, my writing tends to be half-hour TV shows that live at the intersection of diversity and belonging. I especially love focusing on dysfunctional family, friend and workplace situations that have been inspired by real life, creating larger-than-life characters.

Collaboration and community are of utmost importance to me. I believe in people and the human connection.
